Dr. Tanya Burch
Since relocating to the East Kootenays after completing her family medicine training, Tanya has dedicated her career to serving women and their families. Her gentle bedside manner and calm presence make Tanya a favourite among her colleagues and patients alike. With a focus on Women’s Health, Tanya divides her working life between the EPCC, the Kimberley Medical Clinic, the Women’s Clinic and the local OPT clinic. When not at work, you can find her exploring the area on skis, by pedal, or on foot with her daughter, Wynne and pup, Revy.

Dr. Sarah Chesney
I graduated from University of Alberta medical school in Edmonton and completed my residency in family practice in Calgary. I have been enjoying the Kootenay life-living, working and playing in Cranbrook for over twenty years. Helping mothers bring healthy babies into this world continues to be an important and positive part of my full time, full service family practice. I enjoy reading, playing hockey, snow skiing, water skiing and mountain biking in the great outdoors.

Dr. Paula Dubois
I have a passion for providing comprehensive and culturally safe care, especially for women and children. It is a pleasure to get to know each pregnant person and their family, and assist in helping a new little one into the family. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, cooking, and exploring the East Kootenays (on foot/bike/kayak/snowboard).

Dr. Alisa Sanregret
I consider myself very fortunate and privileged to be a part of patients’ pregnancy and postpartum journeys. My hope is to provide compassionate, culturally safe and evidence based care during this exciting, although often uncertain time in a family’s life. I am passionate about prenatal and postpartum mental health, and have an interest in breastfeeding medicine as well. Away from work, I love to break a sweat at our local spin studio, or while hiking/running the great trails in the East Kootenays. I also love music and will rarely pass on an opportunity to sing.

Dr. Celia Sprague
As a family doctor with a focus on Maternity Care, it is always an incredible privilege to be a part of a family’s most vulnerable and precious moments. For the last decade, I have been working as a family doctor in rural Canada and most recently in Sioux Lookout in Northwestern Ontario. When I’m not on-call, I love to read, write in my blog (www.lifeonabramlake.com) and spend time outdoors with my family mountain biking, hiking, camping or generally chasing my husband, my daughter, Alice (7) and my son, Henry (8) on the slopes or trails.

Dr. Ron Nash
Dr. Nash has lived and practiced in Kimberley since 1994. He provides longitudinal family practice care in the Kimberley Medical Clinic and continues to enjoy providing maternity care for Kimberley residents.
- Provides on call hospital services.

Carolyn Thibeault
I graduated from UofA in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and in 2005 graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Midwifery degree. I have been working in the East Kootenay area as an RN and/or Midwife since 1998. I co-founded East Kootenay Midwives with Jane Blackmore in 2005. I am pleased to be part of the Encompass Pregnancy Care Group starting September 2023. I endeavour to provide families with evidence-based, culturally sensitive, compassionate care through their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. When I am not working I love reading and listening to podcasts about social psychology, cooking/baking, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and spending time with my friends and family.

Anne Leblond
My journey to midwifery began when I became a birth doula for a friend. She had an amazing birth and I realized I wanted to be involved in caring for women. I graduated from the Seattle Midwifery School in 2005. My philosophy is that pregnancy and childbirth are powerful life-changing events. I am dedicated to building respectful relationships with my clients and strive for care that attends to the body, mind, and spirit. It is my goal to provide care that is safe and satisfying for all involved. I am a mother to 2 beautiful boys and still exploring our area. I am excited to be part of the ENCOMPASS team to continue helping families in welcoming their children into the world.

Dr. Patricia Massel
Originally from Ottawa, ON, I earned my medical degree from the University of British Columbia and completed my residency in rural family medicine in Red Deer, Alberta. My passion for maternity care stems from the privilege of being ‘in the room where it happens’—supporting pregnant individuals as they embark on one of life’s most significant journeys. My aim is always to foster healthy outcomes for both babies and mothers while working to ensure a positive birth experience. Outside of work, I’m an avid cyclist, enthusiastic cook, and love exploring nature with my husband, whether we’re birding on foot or gliding through the water in our canoe.
Carmen Jensen
I’m a local of Cranbrook, and I’ve spent my childhood fishing, camping, and swimming in the stunning East Kootenays. Now, I love passing on those experiences to my three young daughters. In 2010, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Victoria and immediately pursued my perinatal specialty through BCIT while working on the medical and surgical floors at East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH). In 2012, I began my career on the maternal/child unit at EKRH, where I worked until 2022 before joining Encompass Pregnancy Care in Cranbrook. I enjoy humor, flowers, art, hiking, and spending time with my little family. I’m dedicated to serving this community and committed to achieving positive outcomes for families.
Kimberly Pachara
I graduated from the University of Victoria in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Throughout my career in various nursing roles, I have developed a strong passion for prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care. For the past seven years, I worked in the Maternity Unit at East Kootenay Regional Hospital before starting my own family. I am a proud mother of two boys, Ty, who is 3, and Bruce, who is 1, and we live on a small farm just outside of Cranbrook. I am excited to bring my personal and professional experiences to support the families of Cranbrook through the Encompass clinic.
WORKING TOGETHER & TEAM-BASED CARE
Encompass embodies team-based care. We are part of the East Kootenay Primary Care Network (EK PCN) and based out of the Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC). Our location offers one-stop access to extra support. Patients have access to multiple allied health professionals, such as a mental wellness clinician, physiotherapist, dietitian, social worker and more.
When you enter for your appointment, you will be welcomed by the UPCC’s Medical Office Assistant. Patients will likely have the opportunity to get to know each member of the Encompass team and will be connected with other community resources and health services specific to pre and postnatal care as needed.
Your family doctor is an important part of your ongoing care and should see you for any non-pregnancy related concerns.
